Program Overview

Databases and Database security are critical for the working of any organization. However in today’s world, databases and other data repositories are vulnerable to various kinds of attacks, including unauthorized access, corruption of data and loss of data. The goal of this certificate program is to help the students learn about such threats and the various techniques to guard against them. The Database security course will focus on how to secure databases and also provide students a hands-on view of the security features provided by Oracle and other DBMS. Apart from learning how databases are used in the business and security policies, the students will also learn some advanced concepts in database design and management. Students will have an option of learning a broad range of state-of-the art advanced database management technology in CS779, or studying database administration in CS579.
