In today’s ‘information-age’ a lot of data and critical business information is exchanged over the Internet. Such an environment, popularly known as ‘cyber-space’ provides a breeding ground for malicious users, such as hackers, bots, and Internet worms. When critical business data is not protected during any communication over the Internet, hackers may launch various attacks, including Identify-theft, Click Fraud or Denial-of-service. This program is designed to give the students an understanding of the kinds of attacks that are possible and how to guard against them. The students will also learn how networks behave, common techniques to communicate (CS625) and how to securely exchange information over networks (CS695). The program includes IT security policies (CS684) and a course on digital forensics (CS693) in which students learn techniques to investigate a possible security breach and various case studies from the real-world.
