Museum of Science Computer Clubhouse Web Programming Internship
Program Description
The Computer Clubhouse provides a creative and safe after-school learning environment where young people (ages 10-18) from under-served communities work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. Position Summary
We are looking for an intern to support a variety of web-based programming applications for the Computer Clubhouse Network. A major project involves rewriting an old Ruby application in Rails and integrating it with a new Rails site. This application is a survey-based assessment system with different user roles. Other projects may include graphic design work, system administration, web site maintenance using drupal, and programming in PHP.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with Computer Clubhouse Network Technology Manager on creating new database schema and software design
- Read, interpret, and debug old CGI-Ruby application
- Program new site in Ruby on Rails
- Maintain and update external website using PHP and drupal
- Work on other graphic design projects in support of the Clubhouse Network
